The Importance of Zinc on Osteoporotic Bones
نویسندگان
چکیده
Zinc is an essential element that can be found in bones, such as calcium and phosphorus. It seems to have effects on growth, bone turnover and mineralization making its relationship with bones still opening. The goal of this study is, by XRF analysis, characterized bone samples, with and without pathology, in the trabeculae region. For that purpose, it was used an XRF beam line at the Synchrotron Light National Laboratory (Campinas, Brazil). The results show that the profile of the zinc distribution and its concentration on femoral heads are strongly related to the associated pathology.

Gilan Iron Age Diet: Results based on chemical analysis on samples of human and animal bones
Trace element analyses was carried out using Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer and XRF on a small collection of bones and teeth from horse and human bone samples to check the ratio of strontium and calcium and other elements like zinc and copper. Interestingly the copper representation in humans is much higher compared to that of Sr/Ca. This shows that their diet consisted mainly of animal me...
متن کاملThe Effect of Moderate Intensity Running Exercise on Femoral Bone Microarchitectures in Ovariectomized Sprague-Dawley Rats
Background & Objective: One of the most serious health problems is osteoporosis and it is mandatory to find preventive methods to confront this difficulty. Non-pharmacological methods are in priority due to less side effects. This study investigated the effect of treadmill running exercise on bone microarchitectures in female osteoporotic rats induced by ovariectomy. Materials & Methods: 30 rat...
متن کاملBone Mineral Density in Children with Relapsing Nephrotic Syndrome
AbstractBackground: Given the high relapse rate of disease in children with steroid dependent nephrotic syndrome and the osteoporotic effect of long periods of steroid therapy, this survey was performed to find the bone mineral status of these patients. Methods: Bone mineral density and content (BMD and BMC) were measured using Dual energy X-ray absorptiometry in 37 nephrotic children, six girl...
متن کاملComparing panoramic mandibular radiomorphometric indices between osteoporotic and healthy women in Rafsanjan, Iran, 2018
Introduction: Radiomorphometric indices obtained from panoramic radiography are used to quantitatively and qualitatively evaluate osteoporosis. Given the importance of early diagnosing osteoporosis. The present study was conducted to compare osteoporotic and healthy women in Rafsanjan, Iran in terms of mandibular radiomorphometric indices obtained from their panoramic radiographs. Materials and...
متن کاملMeat diets and fragile bones: inferences about osteoporosis.
Because women supplemented with copper have improved bone density and femurs of rats deficient in copper have decreased mechanical strength, the hypothesis that mice fed meat would have fragile bones was tested. Mice fed sirloin are hypercholesterolemic in comparison to mice fed meat and beef liver because of a relative deficiency of copper compared to zinc. Male, albino, Swiss mice were fed tr...
